1. Governance defines who makes decisions and performance are measured.
2. Recommend or join customers’ monthly Security Committee.
3. Use the RACI matrix to clarify who is Responsible, Accountable, and Consulted.
4. Physical security systems, IP cameras, alarm panels, etc. can all be hacked.
5. Regular maintenance is good governance.
6. Remind customer they own the risks. Document your recommendations.
7. Security is a lifecycle — not a once-off job installation. Every system will eventually fail.
8. Change management prevents breaches. Document all changes.
9. Use frameworks and standards to backup your recommendations.
10. Speak the language of risk –not technology
